So I thought I would tell my story and maybe someone will take heed and learn from it. I want to warn everyone if you have diabetes you need to get it under control. This picture shows the first stage of diabetic retinopathy. I am in stage four called Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (PDR). I see even less than this in one eye than the picture shows. Plus I have macular edema and everything is blurry on top of the black lines and floaters. With my one eye I can see a big blob and make out that it is a house or car and things but I can not see the windows or doors. It is also like seeing in the darkness with the one eye. The macular edema is due to leaking of fluid from blood vessels within the macula. The macula is the central portion of the retina, a small area rich in cones, the specialized nerve endings that detect color and upon which daytime vision depends. As macular edema develops, blurring occurs in the middle or just to the side of the central visual field. Visual loss from diabetic macular edema can progress over a period of months and make it impossible to focus clearly.Macular edema in common in diabetes.

My Doctor had warned me that I was bordering on diabetes but I would not listen. I thought it could not happen to me. So I ate everything and anything I wanted with reckless abandon. As a result I found myself in the hospital with Ketoacidosis my body was already shutting down when I arrived there. I was almost in a coma on the way there. I fell into a coma as soon as I got to the hospital. A while before I went to the hospital I had never been so sick in my whole life. It was not until I thought I had broken a bone in my neck that I agreed to go to the hospital. I do not remember being admidtted. I spent 3 days in the ICU, I did not know where I was or who I was. My family waited not knowing if I would live or die. My blood sugar was 713 and I was told I was lucky to be alive. From that day fourth I had been on a strict diet because I want to live. I do not want to die I want to LIVE

. Back in August I was told by more than 1 Doctor I would be blind in anywhere from 10 months to 2 years at the most. The fear of going blind caused me to go through with treated with the laser eye surgery procedure called scatter laser photocoagulation. It did not help my eyes even though I had many laser burns to each eye. As a result my eyes are dry all the time, they feel like I have sand in them. I lost some of my side vision and a lot of color. I cannot see my favorite color which is blue as brightly now. They said it is the color it most often takes away. It caused me not to be able to cry like a normal person. Instead the tears well up in my eyes but can't roll down my face. It did not stop the bleeding in my eyes and they said more laser was needed.

They wanted to do the pan-retinal photocoagulation. They said each eye would have around 3000 laser burns and I would need it at least twice to each eye. The Dr. said I would not be able to ever drive again. He started talking about running into walls and aids to help you see one line at a time on the page of a book. He offered the laser but vision that would be like looking through paper towel rolls.

I came home and I cried and prayed and cried and prayed some more. I was raised in church my whole life. I told God I would trust Him to heal my eyes for I believe in Miracles. After a few days I told my husband and my family I would not have the laser done. So if you pray and believe in miracles please pray for me. My daughter asked me what I would do if He does not heal me. I told her even if I do not receive my healing I will still trust in Him. He has never let me down, He has never failed me. I am blessed.

My brother Dale who is in the photo had the pan-retinal photocoagulation. As a result he is worse off than I am and he needs prayers too. His sight has been taken from him and he falls all the time. Dale has always been the happiest person in the world. Now with his blindness he is fighting depression. We hold each other and pray and cry together as we trust in God.

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.
A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were u the one who changed my sign this morning? What did u write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what u said but in a different way."
What he had written was: "Today is a beautiful day & I cannot see it."

Do you think the first sign & the second sign were saying the same thing?
Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first
sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story:
Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. Invite the people towards good with wisdom.
Live life with no excuse and love with no regrets.
When Life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile.
Face your past without regret.
Handle your present with confidence.
Prepare for the future without fear.
Keep the faith and drop the fear.
Don't believe your doubts and doubt your beliefs.
Life is a mystery to solve not a problem to resolve.
Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

Each day is as special as you want it to be.........MAKE IT GREAT !!
